Poverty & Homelessness

  • New London Homeless Hospitality Center - The Homeless Hospitality Center is located in southeastern Connecticut and provides a place of safety and welcome to adults facing homelessness. You can serve in many capacities, such as being part of the foodservice, daytime front desk receptionist, the help center, evening and weekend shelter support, maintenance days. You can even show your special skills and run a workshop.

  • New London Community Meal Center - This organization provides vulnerable New London residents with nutritious meals. You can serve by volunteering to serve lunch and/or dinner.

  • New London Area Food Pantry - You can serve by helping with the distribution of groceries to their clients.

Students and Children

  • LifeFAQs Mentoring - LifeFAQs is an organization that provides children with coaching sessions and 1-1 mentoring. You can serve by becoming a LifeFAQs mentor. You will work with 1 or 2 students a year during school hours, helping students set personal and academic goals which will impact their future.

  • Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern CT - This club provides a safe place for children to learn, grow, and reach their full potential. You can serve by volunteering an afternoon and playing and helping with homework.

Caring for Women & Families

  • Connecticut Foster & Adoption Services - Help a child in Connecticut by becoming a foster parent.

  • Safe Futures - This organization supports those who have been impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and trafficking in southeastern Connecticut. You can volunteer with Safe Futures and help restore hope.

  • Care Net - CareNet provides free pregnancy and sexual health services and information to help people work through life decisions in a safe, non-judgemental environment. You can financially support CareNet and enable them to continue providing these life-saving services.

  • Birthright of Greater Norwich - Birthright is an organization that provides support to women facing unplanned pregnancies. You can serve by volunteering as a friendship counselor.

Getting People Back on Their Feet

  • Work & Learn - This ministry is a Bible-based life and career enhancement program. You can volunteer to encourage, mentor, or coach someone through Biblical values and career skills.

  • Community of Hope - This organization helps women affected by abuse, addiction, and homelessness, by helping them build a relationship with God and life in a safe and healthy environment.

  • Habitat for Humanity of Eastern CT - You can help build and restore affordable homes in the area through this organization.

  • OIC of New London County - You can financially support the Opportunities Industrialization Center and its mission to serve the community by helping people enter/re-enter employment, gain marketable skills, and provide for their family and community.

  • Lighthouse Vocational Education Center - This organization specializes in disability services and support. Your financial support to this organization ensures that children and adults in the community are receiving tools to live and work on their own.

Volunteer with Medical Services

  • Lawrence + Memorial Hospital - Volunteers can serve patients, families, visitors, and hospital staff for a few hours per week. Volunteer opportunities are currently suspended because of COVID-19.

  • United Cerebral Palsy of Eastern CT - This organization works to promote the independence and full citizenship of individuals who have disabilities, including Cerebral Palsy. You can volunteer to work at an event, do gardening/yard work, play games, do fine arts and crafts, teach, assist with community-based outings, help with administrative work, clean, and do property maintenance.
